‘Finding Dory’ Creators Reveal Some Characters That Didn’t Make the Cut

One of the things audiences may be noticing about the new Pixar film Finding Dory, the sequel to 2003’s animated juggernaut Finding Nemo, is that this film has even more ocean wildlife and characters than its predecessor.

Yahoo Movies sat down with Finding Dory director Andrew Stanton and producer Lindsey Collins and asked them if there were any characters that ended up the cutting-room floor.

“There were some species we tried out,” Stanton said. “We tried out some dolphins. They were going to be some other patients in the hospital that were hard of hearing from all of the underwater mines that were forced to deal with.”

Stanton said that working with such a creative group of people, there were new ideas for characters every day that they couldn’t pursue. So the ones they did like tended to make it to the big screen.

“We didn’t spend much time discarding stuff,” Stanton said. “When we found these guys, we stuck with them.”
