Brittanee Drexel was 17 years old when she lost her life in an extremely tragic way. She was last known to be alive on April 25, 2009, when she texted her boyfriend.

The man who ended the teenager’s life is a registered sex offender named Raymond Moody. According to the New York Post, in 2009, Moody raped and strangled Drexel. He then dumped her body in Georgetown County. Although this incident happened more than a decade ago, Drexel’s skeletal remains were reportedly discovered in May 2022.

As per Myrtle Beach Online, on the fateful day, Drexel, Moody, and Moody’s ex-girlfriend went to a campground in Georgetown. Moody’s intention was to have sex with the teenager after his girlfriend left. However, he forced her to get undressed and then raped and killed her.

Following this, the court sentenced Moody to life imprisonment for his horrific crime. According to ABC News 4, Raymond Moody is currently being held in South Carolina’s McCormick Correctional Institution.

FBI’s statement regarding the case against Raymond Moody

Raymond Moody pleaded guilty to all the charges against him. After his sentencing, the FBI released a statement that read, “Today marks the ending of a long, dark chapter for Brittanee Drexel’s family and friends, the Myrtle Beach and Georgetown County communities, and all others who poured their heart and soul into finding the truth about what happened to Brittanee. The truth is she was kidnapped, sexually assaulted, and killed in a horrific and incomprehensible way.”

Aside from that, even before the Brittanee Drexel case emerged, Moody had reportedly kidnapped and raped an eight-year-old girl named Kerri Harding in 1983. According to WMBF News, the rapist was 23 years old at the time.
