It's the dino-apocalypse in final 'Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom' trailer

In June, audiences will return to Isla Nublar to see humans once again tangle with prehistoric creatures in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. As initial trailers have already revealed, the franchise’s latest installment will feature a treasure trove of ancient dinosaur breeds, as well as a story that involves Chris Pratt’s Owen Grady and Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire Dearing trying to save the beasts from extinction. On the face of it, that premise seems, well, a bit strange, given that those dinosaurs are constantly trying to eat them and, moreover, could always be re-created via the same genetic-magic processes that first brought them to life. Regardless, J.A. Bayona’s sequel is sure to deliver more of the jungle-set madness that made 2015’s Jurassic World such an enormous blockbuster — and that is ably proved by its latest, most revealing trailer to date.

In the promo above, Pratt’s and Howard’s protagonists successfully accomplish their mission of retrieving Grady’s best dino-buddy Blue, who’s apparently the last of his kind. But while they believe their mission to be one of mercy, it soon turns out that they’ve been used by an evil corporation that intends to sell trained dinosaurs on the open market — and, also, to create new hybrid beasts, including one (dubbed the “Indoraptor” by Bayona) that they claim is the most dangerous to ever walk the earth.

When those predators then invariably escape their confinement and take off into civilized society (watch out, surfers and children sleeping in beds!), it’s up to Grady and Dearing — and Blue, who still shares a deep connection with his human trainer — to stop them from terrorizing the population. And, as Jeff Goldblum’s Ian Malcolm intones at an official hearing, to prevent the planet from reverting back to … Jurassic World!

So far, social media seems exceedingly pleased with this final trailer — despite its spoiler-y nature.

Co-starring B.D. Wong, James Cromwell, Geraldine Chaplin, Toby Jones, Ted Levine, and Justice Smith, Bayona’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom stomps into theaters on June 22.
