Filmmakers behind Oscar-winner 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' to deliver SXSW keynote

Last year, the filmmaking duo Daniels (aka Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert) premiered their multi-verse spanning sci-fi flick "Everything Everywhere All At Once," on the opening night of the South by Southwest Film Festival. The movie went on to win Best Picture, Best Director and Best Screenplay at the Academy Awards. In total, the film won seven Oscars.

Daniels, who have worked together for a decade, premiering several projects at the festival, will return this year for a keynote address titled How We Pulled Off "Everything Everywhere All At Once."

The festival also announced Ryan Patel, futurist and host of the podcast "The Moment with Ryan Patel," as a keynote speaker.

More speakers coming to SXSW 2024

The new slate of speakers heading to the festival also includes Meow Wolf director Benji Geary, co-founder of the anime streaming service Crunchyroll, Kun Gao, Yale University psychology professor and host of "The Happiness Lab" podcast, Laurie Santos and jewelry designer, entrepreneur and philanthropist Kendra Scott.

Founder of YSE beauty and host of the podcast "Lipstick on the Rim," Molly Sims and New Yorker editor at large, CNN contributor and podcast host Kara Swisher will also be in town for the fest.

Other speakers include creative director of Balmain Olivier Rousteing, climate justice organizer Colette Pichon Battle and founder and executive director of Project InnerSpace, Jamie Beard.

SXSW to host live podcast stage; sessions on space and AI

Attendees will have an opportunity to explore the poetic universe we live in as U.S. poet laureate Ada Limón and Dr. Lori Glaze, director of NASA’s Planetary Science Division host the festival's opening session.

Swisher, who has a new memoir coming out, will tape a live episode of her podcast Pivot with co-host Scott Galloway. The session will take place on the new Vox Media Podcast Stage which will host live tapings of top podcasts from March 8-10. Featured podcasts include On with Kara Swisher, Where Should We Begin?, Decoder and more.

AI will be a hot topic at the Interactive conference again this year. Related sessions include AI and the Independent Artist with TuneCore's Andrea Gleeson and CEO of CreateSafe Daouda Leonard and a conversation about tech and AI regulation with FTC Commissioner Lina Khan.

Microsoft's vice president of design and artificial intelligence, John Maeda will host a session called Design Against AI which explores ethical questions around AI.
