Filmmaker Duo Kelly O’Sullivan And Alex Thompson Sign With Gersh

With their upcoming pic Ghostlight premiering this weekend at the Sundance Film Festival, filmmaker duo Kelly O’Sullivan and Alex Thompson have landed new reps signing with Gersh.

The film, which O’Sullivan wrote and co-directed with Thompson, who also produced, debuts in the Premiere section of Sundance on January 18.

Their previous film, Saint Frances, starring and written by O’Sullivan, and directed by Thompson premiered at SXSW in 2019, winning a Special Jury Prize for “Breakthrough Voice” and the Audience Award for Narrative Feature. Released in 2020, the film was one of the most acclaimed independent films of the year and was nominated for three Gotham Awards, an Independent Spirit Award, and named by the National Board of Review as one of the Top Ten Independent Films of the year.

O’Sullivan and Thompson will next collaborate on Mouse, a dramatic coming-of-age comedy written by O’Sullivan, which they will also co-direct; Kindred Spirit is producing They are also developing a new project they will co-direct with Ley Line Entertainment called The Steel Harp in which O’Sullivan will star opposite Lois Smith; she is also penning the script.

Thompson’s second feature Rounding, a dramatic thriller loosely based on his own father’s experience as a doctor in Kentucky, premiered in 2022 at the Tribeca Film Festival. The film follows a driven young medical resident (Namir Smallwood) who transfers to a rural hospital for a fresh start. There, the demons of his past start to catch up to him when he becomes consumed by the case of a young asthma patient (Sidney Flanigan). That film will be released later this year.

As well as Gersh, O’Sullivan and Thompson are represented by managers Adam Kersh and Chris Evans of Fusion Entertainment and attorney Lev Ginsburg at Ginsburg Daniels Kallis.
