Filming for 'Bruised' Postponed After Halle Berry Suffers Injury

Halle Berry is working on another action-packed movie titled 'Bruised.' It focuses on an MMA fighter named Jackie, or Justice, who has to fight to reunite with her 6-six-year-old son.

Berry has been filming in New Jersey. She was scheduled to film on Monday, but filming had to be rescheduled due to an injury Berry sustained during a fight scene. According to nj.com, filming was supposed to happen at Mack’s Elite Heat Boxing Gym from Monday until Friday. A sign on the gym says “Gym closed till 12/2/19. Do not enter!”

When asked about Halle's injury, executive producer, Brian Pitt, expressed that the injuries were minimal. “Halle got slightly injured in the fight,” Pitt tells NJ Advance Media. "She’s tired. She needed a break.” It is not clear what Balle's injury is at the time.

Brian Pitt also explained that this is typical for filming a movie with a lot of combat liked 'Bruised.' “Occasionally what’s going to happen is an actor might get a little injured, and we might adjust scheduling around them a little bit."

Pitt and the 'Bruised' team are currently in the process of creating a new filming schedule for the gym scenes. “We are in the process of just moving things around for actor availability," Pitt says. It is unclear when they'll be filmed, but it will most likely occur in a different venue.

Berry also seems to be downplaying the injury. When she went to visit members of the Atlantic City Xclusive Drill Team, she explained that she isn't afraid of a challenge.

“My whole life has been about fighting,” she told the Atlantic City group. “Being a woman of color, I have never had an easy path. I’ve had to always make a way out of no way." “The problem was, it wasn’t written for somebody like me, or any of you,” she told them. “It was written for a 21-year-old, and I’m nowhere near 21. It was written for a 21-year-old white girl that lived in — somewhere else. She didn’t live in a neighborhood that I would be growing up in.”

A week before the injury, Balle boasted on Instagram, "Happy #FitnessFriday, everyone! There’s no better feeling than setting a goal and smashing it. One of my goals for #BruisedTheMovie? Ripped Abs - and today? I finally got them, and it feels unbelievable!"

This isn't the first time Berry's beeninjured on set. “I broke three ribs when I was rehearsing for ‘John Wick’… It’s like a badge of honor for me, we don’t know how it happened… I worked for a little while with broken ribs until I could no longer do it," Berry explained to Extra. “It was through surviving John Wick training I knew I was capable [to prepare for Bruised]. I just hope I don’t lose my teeth.”
