While there are multiple Boston Marathon bombing projects in the works from several studios, this one focuses on Jeff Bauman, a survivor who lost both his legs in the attack. Related: Tatiana Maslany: “Emmy Snubs Put ‘Orphan’ on the Map” (Q&A) Bauman was waiting for his girlfriend at the finish line of the annual marathon when two pressure cooker bombs exploded, killing three people and injuring more than 260 others. Gyllenhaal is portraying Bauman and Maslany will play the girlfriend, the movie’s female lead.
