David Leitch has developed a reputation for his masterful orchestration of practical stunts and fight scenes — first as a stuntman, then as a stunt coordinator, and now as the shot caller behind the new Charlize Theron spy thriller, Atomic Blonde. If you’ve ever wondered how filmmakers like Leitch choreograph high-speed car chases, the director lets us in on a few secrets in our new installment of Instant Commentary (watch it above). Leitch narrates one of the film’s most pulsating sequences, which finds MI6 agent Lorraine Broughton (Theron) speeding through the streets of Berlin while baddies hunt her and the man she’s protecting (Spyglass, played by Eddie Marsan).

Charlize Theron is a fighter and a lover as butt-kicking MI6 agent Lorraine Broughton in the gritty upcoming actioner Atomic Blonde. “I was really nervous at first, but [Charlize] made it so easy for me,” Boutella told Yahoo Movies at Cinemacon in Las Vegas (watch above). The two best American action movies of the past decade are Mad Max: Fury Road and John Wick. Thus, it sounds like an extremely shrewd idea to take the former’s star, Charlize Theron, and pair her with the latter’s director, David Leitch (who’s also helming Deadpool 2), for Atomic Blonde, a stylish, espionage-tinged beat-‘em-up. Opening with a scantily clad Theron taping a recording wire to her body, and then engaging in a prolonged bit of hand-to-hand combat in a hallway against two thugs, it’s a decidedly John Wick-esque brand of rugged, expertly choreographed violence.
