'Under the Same Sky' art exhibition

La Mecha Contemporary art gallery will have an opening reception for the “Under the Same Sky” exhibition by Las Cruces artist Eva Gabriella Flynn from 6 to 9 p.m. July 27. An artist reception will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Aug. 26. “Flynn is a Mexican American interdisciplinary artist whose work intertwines personal and historical narratives of the US/Mexico border,” a news release said, adding, “Her imagery is inspired by both the psychological and physical landscapes that shape the region she calls home.” The exhibition will feature flags, maps and paintings that weave historical and personal narratives to create an intimate re-imagined world of the Borderland. Flynn attended New Mexico State University and received a BFA in Studio Arts and a BA in Foreign Languages. She earned her MFA in Studio Arts with a concentration in painting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2021. There also will be a new juried show, “Skies,” in the gallery’s Project Room with 13 local and national artists.
