As we anxiously await the arrival of the Act I: Renaissance visuals, we’re celebrating another holiday—9/4/81—B’Day. Today Queen Bey is celebrating her birthday, undoubtedly enjoying what has been an amazing summer. A number album, number one song, and multiple singles in the top ten without a single music video or performance—an anomaly in the year 2022.

To celebrate Beyoncé’s birthday last year, we did a deep dive into the history of her sophomore solo album B’Day, which was also a couple of days removed from celebrating its fifteenth anniversary.

This year, we figured we would do a special edition of our Fashion on Film series with a look back at some of Bey’s most memorable tv and film fashion looks. While Beyoncé made her official film debut with the 2001 MTV film Carmen: A Hip-Hopera, she actually began adding to her acting credits as early 1998 when Destiny’s Child appeared on the hit series Smart Guy.
