The holiday song marks the first time any members of the girl group have reunited on a song since going on hiatus

Ally Brooke and Dinah Jane are checking off one gift on Harmonizers’ wish list.

The two pop stars and former members of Fifth Harmony reunited to release a special duet of the holiday classic “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” — marking the first time anyone from the girl group has teamed up since going on hiatus in 2018. The surprise release arrived on Friday, along with a charming music video featuring the performers getting festive and singing in the studio.

The “Low Key” artist, 30, and the “Bottled Up” singer, 26, give the classic holiday song their own pop princess flair by updating the track to feature sheeny R&B-inspired production. Both of the hitmakers’ voices soar, and it’s like a special stocking stuffer to hear them harmonizing again.

The fun visual directed by Noah Taher is full of joy, as the “Work from Home” singers ring in the yuletide. Dressed in cozy, satin pajamas, it’s as if they’re celebrating Christmas morning or a holiday season slumber party together by decking the halls, decorating cookies and taking photos perfect for a holiday card.

In a press release, the two singer-songwriters shared statements about how thrilled they were to reunite.

Ally Brooke said, “I’m beyond thrilled to be back together with my former Fifth Harmony mate Dinah! There are no words to explain how it feels to be reunited with our collaboration! We hope to bring lots of happiness to our fans and the world with our reunion!”

“There’s a special type of joyous spirit that Christmas brings us all. This holiday season, I’m grateful for this healing union that has brought my good ole sister Ally Brooke and I together through music,” Dinah Jane shared.

The “Bottled Up” singer added, “May this song encourage you to embrace love, forgiveness, and bring comfort to all. I pray that this song may connect souls to our dear Savior as His love is the reason for ALL Seasons.”

Although each member of the “Worth It” group has released solo work since they went on hiatus in 2018, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” is the first time any of the vocalists have appeared on the same release.

5H last released music together with their self-titled album in August 2017, and then they disbanded the following March. Their final project featured just Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane, Lauren Jauregui and Normani, as Camila Cabello departed the pop group early in December 2016.

The holiday single is a surprise track that’s been added to Ally Brooke’s Under the Tree holiday EP, which first arrived on Nov. 3 with just four songs, including a solo version of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”

Ahead of the release, PEOPLE spoke to the “Work From Home” singer about putting together her debut holiday collection and her aspirations of a Fifth Harmony reunion.

“It's been such a goal for so long, since I was little, to have a Christmas album, and I finally have a Christmas EP,” the recording artist shared. “Me and my family just love the holidays, and it's so meaningful for me. I mean, it's my favorite time of the year, so to have a Christmas EP after all the time that has passed, it's magical, it really is.”

In regards to a reunion, she revealed, “There have been some healing relationships. I actually reunited with Dinah [Jane] recently, and that was amazing. I want to reunite with some of the others, but that's happening inch by inch, and we're having different discussions about possible Fifth Harmony adventures ahead. But that's all I can say. It's really amazing that we're able to reunite with each other and build those relationships again.”
