Feuding Parents Celebrate Return Of Runaway Teen

Darbi left home in mid-October, and no one had seen or heard from the 16-year-old since. The few clues her family had as to Darbi’s whereabouts were exhausted. Then Dr. Phil got involved. Darbi’s mother, Janice, her ex-husband and Darbi’s father, Wayne, and her aunt, Camille, appeared on Wednesday’s episode.

Janice and Wayne both admit they had been feuding over how to raise Darbi and her siblings for several years. In spite of their differences, the parents came together to seek help finding their child.

Following the taping, the teen’s family was traveling back to their respective homes when Janice says she finally got the break they’d been hoping for. Moments later, she says, she learned Darbi was safe, and in police custody.

“We were so happy,” says Janice.

“You know, from your thoughts going from thinking your daughter may never – you may never see her again to seeing her – it’s special to be able to come together as a family and give her the help that she deserves,” says Wayne.

Where had Darbi been, who was she with – and was she ready to come home? How did Janice’s involvement in a social media “sting” help to lure her daughter out of hiding? The conclusion of this two-part Dr. Phil airs Thursday.
