Months after his death, actor Treat Williams was memorialized by the FX series he shot shortly before he died.

FEUD: Capote Vs. The Swans remembered Williams with a title card at the end of Wednesday’s episode. It read: “In Memory of Treat Williams 1951-2023.” The actor played media mogul William Paley in Season 2 of the anthology series, which chronicles author Truman Capote’s betrayal of his close female friends — who happened to be members of high society — in the 1970s.

Williams died in June from injuries sustained when a driver hit him while he was riding his motorcycle in Vermont. The official cause of death was “severe trauma and blood loss as a result of the crash.”

Williams was best known to TV fans as Dr. Andrew Brown, the big-city neurosurgeon who moves to a small Colorado town along with his son and daughter on The WB’s Everwood, which ran from 2002 to 2006. Williams earned two Screen Actors Guild nominations for the role. He became TV’s go-to dad, recurring as Severide’s father on Chicago Fire and Neal Caffrey’s dad on White Collar. His other TV credits include Brothers & Sisters, Heartland, Blue Bloods and Chesapeake Shores.

After his death, many of Williams’ former co-stars paid tribute to him. Everwood‘s Gregory Smith said his TV father’s death was “devastating, adding, “Treat was a wonderful man and a brilliant actor. Above all, he loved his family so much. I’m very grateful for the time I got to spend as part of his extended tv family. He made an indelible impression on me during my most formative years. I will always cherish my time with Treat and think fondly of his stories, his laugh and his passion for adventure. I’m sending love to his family, Pam, Gil and Elinor. He will be deeply missed.”
