A Fernandina Beach craft brewery is expanding its footprint roughly 14 miles inland to a roughly 2,900-acre master-planned community with a growing retail center about 20 minutes north of downtown Jacksonville.

Mocama Beer Company will celebrate the grand opening of its satellite taproom with a variety of activities beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday in Wildlight at the former StoryCenter at 123 Tinker St. in Yulee.

"Mocama Wildlight is dedicated to creating a welcoming and lively gathering place where the community can come together to savor great beer, delicious food and unforgettable moments,” Simon Muldoon, the craft brewery's operations manager, said in a news release announcing the opening.

The Wildlight location will feature small-batch taproom exclusives and beer flights, a curated wine selection, seltzers, non-alcoholic options and packaged beer to-go. An outdoor seating area will offer live music from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. each Saturday, according to the news release.

Founded by four friends, Mocama opened in Fernandina Beach in 2020, offering a variety of beers including lagers, stouts and "not your average IPAs." Among the 11 beers listed on tap are Cosmico India Pale Ale, Prosím Pilsner, Rare Cargo and Burial at Sea, the website shows.

The company's name — Mocama — is the word used by the Spanish for the unique Timucua dialect, which was spoken in a narrow band of coastal territory from the mouth of the Altamaha River near St. Simons Island, Ga., south to St. Augustine, according to the website.

Mocama Wildlight's regular hours are 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday, 4 to 10 p.m. Friday, noon to midnight Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
