EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — It’s a love letter to stunt performers, a tribute to one of the most popular TV shows of the 1980s, and a film starring Ryan Gosling.

“The Fall Guy,” the most highly anticipated film of the season, opens with a special message by Gosling and the film’s director, David Leitch, which highlights the stars of the film.

Those fantastic stunt performers, who since silent cinema, have made the “action” on the screen a reality. It sets an amazing tone for what’s to come.

Ryan Gosling is Colt Seavers, the stuntman to superstar “Tom Ryder,” played by Aaron Taylor Johnson. Colt is in a fascinating relationship with camerawoman Jody Moreno, played by Emily Blunt. She wants to be a director and clearly has eyes only for the stuntman. Gosling and Blunt’s chemistry on the screen is fantastic. The scene is filled with actors, directors, and those behind the camera, including the overwhelming producer, played by Hannah Waddingham, of “Ted Lasso” fame.  They are about to shoot a scene, but the star doesn’t want to see so much of the stuntman in the rushes, so they devise an alternative way to do the stunt. The next thing you know, Colt Seavers is being rushed by ambulance to a hospital.

Fast forward to 18 months later, when Colt was highly injured, defeated, and even gave up on his romance. He is a Valet at a Mexican restaurant. He meets the producer who wants him back on the sound stage, but this time in Sydney, Australia. He convinces him that it was his former love, now a director, seeking him out. That wasn’t the case, and then it turns out that the lead actor,  Tom Ryder, is missing. Can Colt get back in action? Can he help find the actor? Can he save the film, “Metalstorm?” What are the secrets, and how did he get roped into what could ultimately be the most dangerous stunt?

The film is filled with action, the most incredible stunts, and a non-stop script that Gosling and the cast keep up to the highest gear possible. The romance between him and Emily Blunt is reminiscent of how romance used to work on the Silver Screen in the past. They are smart, sassy, and funny and drive the plotline. This film is the ultimate way to kick off the summer movie season. It is the perfect popcorn movie and keeps your eyes out for big surprises. There are no spoiler alerts here, but here’s a hint – look out for the post-it notes while Colt and company stake out the missing actor’s apartment.

Ryan Gosling shines in his role as Colt Seaver, a character who is definitely Kenough!
