Felicity Huffman's Daughter Now Has an Acting Job in 'The Twilight Zone'

The House is voting on impeachment managers for the trial of Donald Trump, Gigi Hadid might be a juror in Harvey Weinstein’s trial, and Felicity Huffman’s daughter Sophia Macy is now acting in The Twilight Zone. Seriously: What universe are we living in?! Just a few months after Huffman served jail time for her role in the college admissions scandal, her daughter has snagged a coveted acting gig on Jordan Peele’s Twilight Zone reboot.

Look, we didn’t expect 19-year-old Sophia to rush off to her nearest campus — in fact, Huffman told the court that her involvement in the scam was making it tough for Sophia to get into a college. While Sophia allegedly had no idea that her mother had paid to change her SAT scores, we can understand colleges hesitating to admit her, lest they anger other non-bribing parents. And dad William H. Macy’s comments last January indicate that Sophia may have always hoped to go straight into an acting career.

I know she’s going to make a go of it in the business, which I support. I’ve seen her; she’s good, she’s really good,” Macy told Parade. “I am voting that once she gets accepted [to college], she maybe takes a year off. God doesn’t let you be 18 twice. I know from casting, if you need a 25-, 26-year-old actress, there are a lot of them out there and they’re really good. But if you need a 15-, 16-year-old actress, it’s tough. Sofia looks young. I think this is an opportunity for her. But it’s just my opinion, and we’ll see what she wants to do, what Felicity thinks and how the chips fall.”

Of course, Sophia’s gap year likely fell to the back of her parents’ minds when the news of the college admissions scandal broke in March. But it seems that Huffman’s involvement with con artist William Singer may have only sweetened Sophia’s acting prospects. The recent high school grad will make her first appearance on Twilight Zone in the Season 2 episode “Among the Untrodden.” The season will air on CBS starting in 2020 (exact date TBD), and other confirmed cast members include Community‘s Gillian Jacobs and Joel McHale, Arrested Development‘s Tony Hale, and Pose’s Billy Porter.

So, Sophia will be in good company, especially considering this is only her third professional role. And to be fair, we’re sure her life has felt like one long Twilight Zone episode since March — it’s not every day that your Desperate Housewives star mom goes to jail for bribing someone to change your SAT score. And with all the rabid media attention Huffman’s family has since been subjected to, maybe it’s only fair that Sophia’s big break comes out of it too.

Maybe fair is the wrong word — but at the very least, it feels very on-brand for 2020.
