“Casting pulls no punches when it comes to bringing amazing artists on the show. When I found out Steven Williams was jumping on to play my father, I was instantly excited. I’d watched his work for years and knew that he would bring an element that would be engaging to our audience,” Hodge said in a statement to Deadline.

“He’s intense, but hilarious at the same time. It’s a great combination for the foundation of his and Ray’s relationship on the show. Meeting his father opens up Ray’s world a little more for the audience by giving meaning and understanding to why he chose the same path in life to serve in law enforcement. It’ll be fun to see how their relationship develops and also the impact it may have on Ray in the future,” he added.

The series returns on February 13 with Season 5 picking up following the events of the Season 4 finale which saw Remy (Dylan McDermott) discover the man who was rotting in jail for his brother’s murder was innocent. Instead, the murderer was someone much closer to the story. But when the real criminal is caught, a secret unravels. Remy is an uncle to a grown college student who isn’t as ready to jump into a relationship with a stranger who just so happens to be family.

For nearly 5 decades, Williams racked up credits in both TV and film. Most recently, he played Paul Davis in the hit FX series Snowfall, and Tony Carver in the CBS/OWN fan-favorite series, All Rise. He is best known for his portrayal of Lieutenant Jefferson Burnett in CBS’s The Equalizer series (1985), Captain Adam Fuller in 21 Jump Street (1987), Mr. X in Fox’s The X-Files and Rufus Turner on the CW series Supernatural. Additionally, he recurred on Season 2 of the HBO series The Leftovers opposite Regina King—a 227 reunion— and Justin Theroux and Season 3 of True Detective for HBO.

Additional small screen credits include Yellowstone, The Chi, Locke and Key and Stumptown, among many others, as well as features like the New Line horror film IT, Birds of Prey for Warner Brothers and Velvet Buzzsaw for Netflix.

He is repped by Kerner Management Associates.
