Fayetteville celebrates winning the All-America City Award with block party tonight

To celebrate being named an All-American City this year, Fayetteville is hosting a block party tonight at the Festival Park Promenade.

“We’re extremely proud of what Fayetteville has to offer which led us to this accomplishment,” City Manager Doug Hewett said in a news release, “Earning this title is indicative of our community and how proud everyone is to live here.”

The Celebration Block Party, which is free to attend, is 5-7 p.m. at the promenade behind the Festival Park Plaza building at 225 Ray Ave.

There will be music, ice cream and fun for the whole family the release said. There will also be city departments and commissions in attendance to provide opportunities to learn more about city services and how to become civically engaged.

The block party precedes tonight's Fayetteville Woodpeckers home game, where they square off against the Charleston Riverdogs. Segra Stadium, near the Maiden Lane and Ray Avenue round-a-bout, is within walking distance of Festival Park.
