For some, the weekends are all about getting out. Let's see if we can help you find a place to go. (And in the music world, the weekend really begins Thursday night.)

The South Shore and nearby towns will be filled with live music at venues big and small.

Another packed calendar of musical events in the area, and, for some reason, an influx of Australian musicians – including Dope Lemon, Morgan Evans, Amyl and the Sniffers and Grentperez – in the Boston clubs.  Well, tie me wallaby down, sport, and let's get going!

Local favorites the Aldous Collins Band, Kier Byrnes and the Kettle Burners and Dalton & the Sheriffs will be performing locally this weekend, as will Bob Dylan, who has a three-night series of shows at Boston's Orpheum Theater for three nights, Friday through Sunday.

More: Did you fall in love to this band's '80s songs? They're playing on the South Shore

Laughs are also in order with Joey Voices, Frank Santos Jr. and Alex Cooper appearing in the area.

THURSDAY, Nov. 2: Aldous Collins Band setting up shop in Pembroke

The popular South Shore-based Aldous Collins Band begins a Thursday residency at Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke (Nov. 2, 9, 16, 30). Possibly the best live rock band-with-horns you ever heard when Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes take over The Narrows Center in Fall River.

Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes perform the free headline show on the Wegmans Stage at Parcel 5 on day 7 of the CGI Rochester International Jazz Festival Thursday night.

FILE - Musician Bob Dylan performs in Los Angeles on Jan. 12, 2012. Transcripts of lost 1971 Dylan interviews with the late American blues artist Tony Glover and letters the two exchanged reveal that Dylan changed his name from Robert Zimmerman because he worried about anti-Semitism, and that he wrote "Lay Lady Lay" for actress Barbra Streisand. The items are among a trove of Dylan archives being auctioned in November 2020 by Boston-based R.R. Auction.

Bob Dylan's endless tour stops off at Boston's Orpheum Theater for three nights, through Sunday.

SATURDAY, Nov. 4: Local favorites playing in Boston

Magical Mystery Doors – a band that celebrates the music of The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and The Doors – takes over The Spire Center in Plymouth.  Guitarist Duke Robillard is a titan of New England music, from being a co-founder of Roomful of Blues, to dozens of albums that ranged from rock to blues to jazz stylings, to playing on albums with people like Bob Dylan, and the Fabulous Thunderbirds, to producing other artists at his Pawtucket studio, but tonight he holds court at The Narrows Center in Fall River. Norwell's Totem rocks The C-Note in Hull, with Dred Buffalo and Twam also on the bill.

Dalton & the Sheriffs are, from left, Ryan Jackson, Brian Scully, Kevin Billingslea, Jay Tagg, Jake Wertman and Dennis Walsh.

Rapper Lil Darkie and the tour he calls The Collapse of Modern Society is at Big Night Live in Boston.
