‘Fauda’ Star Lior Raz Shields From Bombs During Real-Life Rescue Mission In Israeli Town

Fauda actor Lior Raz has posted a video of himself hiding from rockets as he joined a rescue mission in the bombarded Israeli town of Sderot.

The actor, who has also appeared in Hit & Run, 6 Underground and Apple TV+’s The Crowded Room — wrote that he had travelled to the devastated south of Israel to join “hundreds of brave ‘brothers in arms’ volunteers” who were working to aid the local population, and had been dispatched to extract two families.

The short video shows Raz taking cover as Hamas missiles fly over head and crashes are heard. It’s not clear when the mission took place or if it was successful.

Israel was struck by a surprise attack over the weekend, which has left hundreds dead, many in horrific circumstances, and men, women, children and the elderly taken hostage. Israel has responded by pounding Gaza with more than 4,500 rockets, with many more dying as the situation threatens to further spiral out of control

Raz is known for his role in Yes and Netflix drama Fauda, playing a tough Israeli army commander who hunts a Hamas leader. He had made the trip south with friends Yohanan Plesnar and his Fauda co-creator Avi Issascharov.

Around 150 Israeli have been taken hostage by militants backed by Hamas, according to Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, and more than 1,000 have been killed, with many slaughtered in their homes and an outdoor music festival. Israel today said the border with Gaza was now secure, three days after the attack. Around 830 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli bombs, according to the Gaza health ministry.

Fauda was unexpectedly commissioned for a fifth season last month by Israeli network Yes TV. Netflix had international rights on the first four seasons, and helped it become a hit outside of the Middle East.
