O.J. Simpson, Fred Goldman

Ron Goldman's father, Fred Goldman, shared a straightforward statement when asked about the news regarding O.J. Simpson's passing.

As Parade reported earlier today, Simpson passed away on Wednesday, April 10, following a battle with prostate cancer, but his death wasn't revealed by his family until Thursday.

Following the rush of coverage, Fred told Us Weekly in a piece published on Thursday, April 11: "The only thing I have to say is that today is a further reminder of how long Ron has been gone and how long we have missed him.”

“The only thing that is truly important today are the victims,” he added.

Simpson was acquitted on charges related to the wrongful death of Ron along with his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson in October 1995, during what became known as the "trial of the century" and a little over a year after the pair was found slain in Nicole's Los Angeles home.

Two years later, a civil trial found the football Hall of Famer liable for their deaths, and he was ordered to pay the families millions in damages.

His run-in with the law didn't end there, as a decade later, Simpson found himself embroiled in another controversy. In 2007, the actor was arrested in Las Vegas for felony armed robbery and kidnapping during an altercation in the Palace Station Hotel and Casino, where he and his accomplices posed as potential buyers and robbed two memorabilia sellers of items that were said to originally belong to Simpson.

The case went to trial in 2008, during which the NFL star was convicted and sentenced to 33 years in prison. However, after nine years at the Lovelock Correctional Center, he was let out on parole. In 2021, Simpson was once again a free man as he was discharged from parole two months earlier than initially planned.
