Father John Misty Filmed an Action Movie

Watch him perform and discuss the role on “Seth Meyers”

Father John Misty discussed his role in an upcoming action movie on last night’s episode of “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” Joshua Tillman says his co-stars include Sterling K. Brown (“The People v. O. J. Simpson”) and Brian Tyree Henry (“Atlanta”), though Tillman’s character apparently “gets his head blown off within, like, 30 seconds.” Elsewhere in the interview, Tillman discussed his canned Pure Comedy musical, “Hogwarts professor” dress sense, and generally disheveled appearance: “I look like an actor who’s going through a personal crisis.” He later performed “Things It Would Have Been Helpful to Know Before the Revolution.” Watch it happen below.

Tillman’s reps confirmed to Pitchfork that the film is Hotel Artemis, directed by Drew Pearce. In 2015, Pearce helmed the video for I Love You, Honeybear’s “The Night Josh Tillman Came to Our Apartment.” On “Seth Meyers,” Tillman offered a brief description of his role: “Me and these future bank robbers blow a hole through a wall. Then we run out and then I yell something like, ‘When were you gonna tell us?!’ That was, like, my one line.”

Pitchfork has contacted his representatives for more details.

Father John Misty is set to appear on Pitchfork Live on September 14. His show at Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, N.Y. will be live broadcast starting at 9 p.m. Eastern. Tillman is on tour through November—find his full itinerary here.
