The Fate of the Furioius: See reactions to the first screening

The Fate of the Furious has been unleashed on the world - well, a select crowd, anyway - and those who have seen it are racing to praise F. Gary Gray’s film.

Those in attendance at Universal’s CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas got a surprise treat when the eighth installment of the series was screened. Beforehand, star and producer Vin Diesel teared up when discussing his late friend and costar Paul Walker, saying, ”I always feel like he’s looking down on us so we didn’t want to let him down.”

From the reactions on social media, it seems Diesel and crew came through with another high-octane crowd-pleaser.

Fate of the Furious is everything you want it to be and a ton of fun,” said Colliders Steven Weintraub, adding, “@TheRock is a straight up superhero in the film and I loved it.”

Fate of the Furious adds Charlize Theron, Helen Mirren, and Scott Eastwood to the franchise while marking the first film without Walker and the beginning of a new trilogy. Even though this is the eighth film in the series, it doesn’t seem to be slowing down, with Eric Vespe from Ain’t It Cool News writing, “I adored every ridiculous, charming, absurd, fun second of The Fate of the Furious.”

The movie, which also stars Tyrese, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jason Statham, flies into theaters on April 14. Read more reactions below.
