Fatal Cut Off crash leaves one dead, six injured

Six people were injured and one is dead after a two vehicle crash in Cut Off ejected five from the vehicle.

Mary Borne, 37, of Galliano was driving south on LA 3235 in a Lincoln Navigator and at the intersection with West 54 Street she made a left hand turn into an oncoming Ford. Louisiana State Police responded to the wreck May 19, just before 11 a.m.

She and the four other occupants of the vehicle were not wearing seatbelts and all were ejected. Mary Borne's relative Destiny Borne was pronounced dead at the scene. All other passengers of the Navigator were rushed to a New Orleans hospital for critical injuries, and remain there as of Monday, May 22, according to Louisiana State Police Public Information Officer Ross Brennan.

The driver and the passenger of the Ford both were restrained and suffered moderate injuries.

According to a news release from the department a standard toxicology sample was collected from both drivers and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
