Which fast-food chain will occupy the former Hardee's location at I-75 and Newberry Road?

A fast-casual restaurant with four Alachua County locations already in operation has filed an application with the state to open in the former Hardee's location next to the Intersate 75 interchange at Newberry Road.

What restaurant is coming to Newberry Road?

Records show BSBC Go Gators LLC, doing business at Zaxby's, has filed to open at 7300 W. Newberry Road, next to Taco Bell and in front of Flip Factory Zone. The restaurant is expected to open in February 2024 and will employ about 75 people.

The franchise is owned by Shaun Morris and Boris Ochsenius, who both worked for Zaxby’s as teenagers, and Blake Fletcher and Cotton Fletcher.

This will be the ownership group’s 12th location and first in Gainesville.

“The four of us have spent nearly all our lives here, and it is special that we can have one in our town.,” Morris said via email

What's on the menu at Zaxby's?

Zaxby’s offers a variety of chicken tenders, sandwiches and salads. Its signature sandwich is made with hand-breaded chicken, dill pickles and Zax Sauce and served on a toasted potato bun.

Where are the other Zaxby's locations in Alachua County?

Zaxby's restaurants are located in Gainesville at 2424 NW 43rd St., 3710 SW Archer Road and 1 NW 10th Ave. There also is a Zaxby's near the I-75 interchange in Alachua at 16088 M L King Blvd./U.S. 441.
