The Iowa women's basketball superstar captivated the nation when the Hawkeyes won five games in the NCAA Tournament earlier this year as she set, and broke, multiple records during her 2022-2023 season. Get her jersey, or make your own by painting a large #22 on a shirt, and dribble a basketball around. Bonus points if your hair is long enough for a ponytail.

Two horror costumes this Halloween for those looking to give some good scares: Banned books and an ax murderer.

Want to go as something scary this year? Go as a banned book. A law signed by Gov. Kim Reynolds earlier this year has prompted the removal of hundreds of books from school libraries in Iowa that contain depictions or descriptions of sex acts. You'll have plenty of options to choose from, including "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" by Stephen Chbosky, John Green's "Looking for Alaska" and books from bestselling fantasy author Sarah J. Maas.

Skip the classic chainsaw-and-a-mask and wield an ax instead, a nod to the unsolved Villisca ax murders from 1912 in the southwest Iowa town. Just be certain not to swing the ax around while people are near.

You don't actually need to have a beard for this one. Some fake hair on your chin paired with a brown, shoulder-length wavy wig should work just fine to get you looking like the Hollywood star from Norwalk. Be sure to take a photo outside Waveland Cafe, 4708 University Ave. in Des Moines, where he dined on Oct. 15 and in 2022 during his visits to Iowa. Throw on some "Aquaman" or "Game of Thrones" merch to really drive it home.
