Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them adds Ron Perlman

Ron Perlman joins cast of 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them'

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has found its latest cast member.

Ron Perlman, the lantern-jawed star of Hellboy and Sons of Anarchy, has joined the fantasy film spun off from J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter saga.

Eddie Redmayne is headlining the film as Newt Scamander, a “magizoologist” who studies and catalogs supernatural creatures some 70 years before Harry, Ron, and Hermione read his textbook as Hogwart’s students. According to The Hollywood Reporter, which first reported the news, Perlman will play a goblin in the film, which is currently in production.

David Yates, who helmed the last four Harry Potter movies, is back in the director’s chair, and Rowling is making her screenwriting debut on the film, which is envisioned as the first installment in a trilogy. The cast also includes Katherine Waterston, Colin Farrell, and Jon Voight.

Perlman’s recent credits include the LGBT rights drama Stonewall and the Amazon series Hand of God.

Warner Bros. will unleash Fantastic Beasts in November 2016.
