Fans are upset after Nintendo erases Mario’s butt in Direct announcement

Nintendo fans are livid at an announcement for the new Super Mario adaptation that does not feature the iconic character’s “thicc” buttocks.

The Japanese video game company announced a new Direct for Thursday, focusing on the upcoming Mario movie, starring actor Chris Pratt as the voice of the Italian plumber.

While the poster for the 2023 film featured Princess Peach’s Castle, mushrooms and other Nintendo-related things, Mario’s ass was nowhere to be found.

Instead, fans got a glimpse of a butt so concave that it looks like Mario activated a POW Block — which is used to destroy enemies in-game — on it.

Mario’s backside was never a focus of games in the franchise — it was definitely flat in 2000’s “Paper Mario.” But mods have popped up over the past few years for games such as “Super Mario Odyssey” where players can make the character extra “thicc.”

Social media users took to Twitter to mourn the loss of Mario’s cheeks for the new movie.

This isn’t the first time fans were up in arms over Nintendo deflating their characters’ butts. Gamers called out the company in September for erasing Wario’s thickness.
