Fans Think It's 'Creepy' for Drake to Text Underage Stars Like Billie Eilish

Drake is known for being supportive in guiding younger stars and taking people under his wing to share his years of experience as a veteran performer, but after Billie Eilish revealed that she exchanges with the 33-year-old star, some are saying there may be an issue.

The criticism began after the "Bad Guy" star gave an interview to Variety and spoke about her relationship with Drizzy.

"Drake is like the nicest dude I’ve ever spoken to," she said. "I mean, I’ve only like texted him, but he’s so nice. Like, he does not need to be nice, you know what I mean?"

The claim by 17-year-old Eilish irked fans, especially after the "Hot Line Bling" rapper previously got heat over his friendship with another young star, "Stranger Things" star Millie Bobby Brown. Many people took to Twitter to share their frustrations over the situation.

"Does anyone else think it’s strange that Drake just has Billie Eilish and Millie Bobby Brown’s numbers? It’s definitely possible he’s just being a role model and it has to do with marketing but why’s a 32-year-old man texting girls under the age of 17?" one fan asked.

Another wrote, "is it bad that i’m watching a billie eilish interview and she’s like “drake is like the nicest dude i’ve spoken to” and the fuckin sirens started going off in my brain lol."

"Just read that Drake has been targeting Billie Eilish now and I’m so queasy. I really, really don’t want to wait twenty years for Drake to get taken down like R Kelly. How many minors will he get away with grooming? (Also see: Millie Bobby Brown.)" a third person tweeted.

Millie Bobby Brown Defended Him

Millie Bobby Brown revealed during the Emmy's last year that she had a close friendship with Drake.

"He’s honestly so fantastic. A great friend and a great role model. We just texted each other the other day, and he was like, ‘I miss you so much,’ and I was like, ‘I miss you more.’”

She also revealed that Drake gave her advice on dealing with boys. After people thought the rapper had crossed the line with the 15-year-old star, she stood up for him in a post on her Instagram Stories.

"Why u gotta make a lovely friendship ur headline? U guys are weird...For real. I'm lucky to have people in the business extend their time to help me further my career and offer their wisdom and guidance.

"I'm very blessed to have amazing people in my life. U dont get to chose that for me. it's nice to have people understand what I do. Now get back to talking about real problems in the world other than my friendships...jeez"

Maybe It's Harmless

Even though many thought the text exchange between Drake and the underage celebrities was "creepy," others jumped to his defense and thought people were overreacting.

"I honestly think it’s weird that people think texting is always intimate/sexual when over the years it’s turned into an extremely casual way to message someone about literally anything. Billie has a LOT of older people in her phone who text her their support," one fan argued.

One person thinks the rise in sexual predators being exposed in society could be warping people's judgment, writing, "I understand where females and males or fans of Billie Eilish (like myself) are coming from. We have a new problem here due to Epstein. I think he is being a role model or showing support for Billie as she is a gifted talented artist and musician in a very competitive business."
