Following the arrest of Duane "Keffe D" Davis regarding Tupac Shakur's 1996 murder, Jada Pinkett Smith, a longtime friend of the hip-hop legend, expressed her hope for "closure." 

In an Instagram Story post, the talk show host wrote, "Now I hope we can get some answers and have some closure. R.I.P. Pac," concluding with a dove emoji.

Following Smith's tribute to Tupac, social media users expressed various opinions.

"Will Smith holding the cleanest L in Wife history," one person wrote, subtly referencing the couple's famous "Red Table Talk" interview, where they spoke about their marital issues.

Another added, "Can't even imagine my man sayin' RIP to his dead ex-girlfriend, cause boy just go with her."

Others empathized with her emotional journey, with one person noting, "I know people joke a lot about their relationship. But I know today was probably very emotional for her."

Another chimed in: "I'm glad she's at peace and can hopefully heal from it now."

Smith has always openly discussed her deep bond with Tupac and emphasized that he was her "best friend." The duo initially crossed paths as students at the Baltimore School of the Arts in Maryland. 

Recalling their first meeting, the "Madagascar" actress said in an interview, "It was the first day, and he came over to me and introduced himself. Fromm looking at him wasn't necessarily the cat I would even like to deal with."

She continued: "But as soon as he approached me, he was like a magnet. Once you paid attention to him, he sucked you in. And we hit it off from that moment on."

She described Tupac as a "brother" and a "father figure" in her life. Pinkett Smith expressed the uniqueness of their relationship, adding, "The type of relationship we had…you only get that once in a lifetime…"

During a 2015 interview with Howard Stern, Smith shared insights into her friendship with Tupac, stating, "I've never in my life met a person like Pac. He had so much charisma."

In the interview, Smith revealed that at one point, she and the "Hit Em Up" singer attempted to take their connection further with a kiss. However, both felt something was amiss, leading them to reconsider.

With the wisdom of age, Smith gained a deeper understanding of their relationship, stating, "Being older, I have more of an understanding of what that was between us. When you have two young people with powerful feelings, but there was no physical chemistry between us."

On Friday, it was revealed that the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department arrested Duane "Keffe D" Davis concerning Tupac's fatal shooting on September 13, 1996, marking a significant breakthrough in the case after 27 years.

The police had previously searched a house in Las Vegas about Tupac's murder. 

Davis was apprehended on Friday morning and is facing a murder charge with a gang enhancement. During a press conference, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department identified him as the individual who issued the fatal order in Tupac's murder, referring to him as the "on-ground, on-site commander."

Notably, the now 60-year-old suspect has claimed to be one of the three "living eyewitnesses" to the events surrounding Tupac's murder, as documented in the 2019 book, "Compton Street Legends."
