Mariska Hargitay and Chris Meloni are making fans swoon with a new picture together.
On Wednesday, May 15, the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit actress took to Instagram with an endearing snapshot of herself with her costar, and people who've shipped the duo's on-screen chemistry (which has never successfully blossomed into a true romantic relationship despite teasers) couldn't hold it together.
The image found the two standing side-by-side in very close proximity, as they both leaned their heads in toward one another while gazing into each other's eyes, subtly smiling.
"About last night…" the NBC crime saga star captioned the social media upload, fully aware that the picture would immediately ignite long-running fan theories.
"Mom and dad we don't wanna know what happens behind closed doors...." one fan joked in the comment section of the post, while another echoed that sentiment with, "Mom and dad are back 🥹🥹🥹🥹."
"OOOOOO WHAT HAPPENED LAST NIGHT………" a third hilariously questioned in response to the caption.
"This picture woke me up from the dead," an additional fan remarked, and a fifth account admitted they were "gonna hyperfixate on this for the rest of the week 👍."
"And all is right with the world again, if only for a sweet, blissful moment … ❤️❤️❤️," yet another comment read.

"We miss yall on screen together so much!!!!! 😭😭😭🥺🥺🥺," someone else admitted.
The two starred alongside each other as detective partners Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler on the Dick Wolf-created procedural for 12 seasons, however, Meloni exited the series in 2011, later moving on to helm a new installment, Law & Order: Organized Crime. Luckily for loyal viewers, though, they've been grateful to get a few crossover episodes featuring the two key characters back together again.
Of course, true fans familiar with the actors know that alas, the romantic trolling is only for show on TV, as both parties have been happily married for several years—Hargitay to Peter Hermann, and Meloni to Sherman Williams.
