Fans Have Mixed Feelings About Bravo's 'Real Housewives of Salt Lake City' Announcement

Andy Cohen made a huge announcement during the first-ever BravoCon, and it involves the network's most profitable franchise. The "Watch What Happens Live" host revealed they're adding another "Real Housewives" franchise to the mix, and this time, they're invading Salt Lake City. Cohen revealed the news during their first convention in New York City on Saturday and fans aren't sold on the idea. Many loyal watchers are wondering why the mega-network would pick this city over others and they're firing their opinions at the "Housewives" daddy's direction.

The Reasoning:

“We’ve always tried to choose a city that has completely unique personalities and we also try to throw a little curveball now and then. Pick somewhere you weren’t expecting,” Cohen announced. “We are very excited to travel to Salt Lake City, Utah!” Promising the city will provide endless amounts of entertainment, he added, “You didn’t see it coming but I have to tell you, in Utah, you have the majesty of the mountains, the Mormon religion, an exclusive community of people who have very successful businesses who live in their own universe." He added, “It is gorgeous and I think you’re going to be really surprised and intrigued by the group of women we’ve found.”

As for Bravo, they have their own reasons, which includes the high-profile events held in Utah where the elite are often rubbing shoulders with Hollywood. Stating it's “much more than religion," they state there's successful women whose lives are "filled with luxury homes, shopping sprees and multi-million-dollar businesses and brands." They also credit the annual Sundance Film Festival and the luxury ski resorts for attracting Hollywood's most elite. "“Here perfection is not an aspiration, it’s a mandate. They hold themselves and each other to an extremely high standard and never hold back when things go sideways, but lord knows they are always there for each other when they need it most," the statement reads.

Fans React:

Fans are giving mixed reviews on the decision and many are taking to social media to air out their frustrations. "If Real Housewives of Salt Lake City isn’t about a bunch of Mormons trying to gain sexual freedom then I. DONT. CARE. Just wow Andy!!!" stated one unhappy fan. "I'm so confused. WHY DEAR GOD?" wrote another. A third fan tweeted, "The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Like, how would that even work? I’m just not seeing it." Others are so in for the new "Housewives" series. "Look forward to watching Real Housewives of Salt Lake City if it means showcasing the bizarre world of Salt Lake Instagram influencers," responded someone. "In 2020 we get a real housewives of Salt Lake City!😂I’m already looking forward to the new year," added another.

Others aren't sure but they have questions. "The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City??? Are they Polygamists? Do they all live in the same house with no alcohol??" one fan asked. "The Real Housewives of SALT LAKE CITY?! Are they all going to be married to the same husband?" questioned another.

Trailer Leak?!

Fans are also tweeting out a clip they've declared the leaked trailer. While it appears Bravo has not confirmed this, the clip looks professional AND has similar graphics and the official intro music. The first "Real Housewives" show debuted in 2006 with "RHOC." Since then, they have added several city's to the franchise including New York, Atlanta, New Jersey, Beverly Hills, and Dallas. They also added Potomac and D.C. but those were canceled.
