That was quick. Bachelor Peter Weber and Madison Prewett shocked Bachelor Nation with their unexpected breakup announcement yesterday evening, just two days after confessing their love for one another during the two-night finale — but the most shocking part of it all was the reaction from the pilot’s mother. Barbara Weber, who has been vocal about her disapproval of her son’s relationship with the 23-year-old, took to her Instagram page to seemingly celebrate the couple’s premature split with a video of herself dancing to “Leaving on a Jet Plane.”
“Love you guys❤️,” she captioned the untimely video of herself with two friends. It didn’t take long for fans to take issue with the mother’s unnecessary jab at the couple, and many took to the comments section to put her in her place.

“The sad thing is that you’ll never have the same relationship with your son again… I can’t imagine feeling good about hurting my son or my relationship with him,” one comment read while another added, “You are a very shallow person, Barb.”
Fans also referred to Mrs. Weber’s insensitive post as “childish,” “hateful,” and “shameless” — but it doesn’t seem to be fazing her one bit. After all, the mother-of-one predicted Madison and Peter’s split during the After the Final Rose special Tuesday night.
“[Peter’s] going to have to fail to succeed,” she admitted while calling out the couple’s incompatibility. “All his friends, all his family, everyone that knows him knows that it’s not going to work.”
Thursday night, the 28-year-old took to his Instagram to announce his split from the Alabama native. “Madi and I have mutually decided to not pursue our relationship any further,” he said. “Believe me this was not easy for either of us to be ok with, but after a lot of honest conversations, we have agreed that this is what makes most sense for the two of us. The love and respect I have for Madi will continue to endure.”
Madison shared a post of her own confirming the news, adding, “As Peter and I have decided to go our separate ways, I am confident that we will both move in the direction of our purpose and never forget that God has a plan in all things.”
