Fans Freak Out After 'NCIS' Trailer Reveals Ziva Returns to Save Gibbs!

It's been three years since Ziva David left the NCIS crew and disappeared ... but now she's back and ready to jump back into action.

"NCIS" just dropped the shocking trailer ahead of the 17th season of the popular action show, and fans are shook over the return of one of the series' most popular characters.

"For three years ... they thought she was gone forever," dramatic text reads as it flashes over scenes of Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) coming to terms with the loss of Officer Ziva David after the NCIS team was informed she had died in a mortar attack back in Season 13.

Ziva, played by actress Cote de Pablo, left the show back in 2011. At the time she said, "I've had 8 great years with NCIS and Ziva David. I have huge respect and affection for Mark, Gary, Michael, David, Rocky, Pauley, Brian, Sean, all of the team and CBS."

She also teased a possible return to the show back then by saying, "I look forward to finishing Ziva's story."

Fans of "NCIS" immediately exploded with excitement and anticipation over the big news, flooding the comments of the YouTube page for the trailer.

"Grab your gears ladies and gentlemen cause they are back!!!!" one fan wrote.

Another exclaimed, "I can't wait for this!" and "I'm tuning back in!"

Others theorized whether show writers would bring back another favorite character, Ziva's love interest, Tony DiNozzo.

Ziva and DiNozzo had a daughter together, Tali, and he took her to Israel after the supposed death of her mother.

We're going to have to wait to find out all the answers, as the Season 17 premiere of "NCIS" aires Tuesday, Sept. 24 on CBS and CBS All Access.
