A day after ripping into Joe Budden on Queen Radio, Nicki Minaj appeared on the Joe Budden Podcast in an attempt to hash-out their disagreements. And she may have taken some shots at Cardi B during the process.
Nicki blamed media figures, like Budden and DJ Akademiks, for instigating the drama involving "MotorSport," and propagating lies that were intended to tear her down.
"When you're insecure you tell lies—you tell lies because you don't want others to shine based on their talents sometimes," she said at the 24:40 mark in the podcast stream below. "So I am going to tell the real deal. I always have receipts to prove what I'm gonna say. Always, and that will never change. My point is there were a lot of people who I never said anything bad about who I thought I was cool with that jumped on the hate train. When you say a thing like, 'We're passed it.' Yes, I'm passed it. Praise be to God."
She continued to defend herself by reminding Budden about her "authentic come-up," and how she was able to achieve success by relying strictly on her talent.
"I still had to go through these things because of people like you who made a sport out of tearing down a young, black woman who's done nothing but come in this game with an authentic come-up, writing raps, and doing what the fuckin' was really necessary," she said. "No Instagram, no reality shows, no sucking DJs' dicks."
Many listeners believe the last part was referencing Cardi, who attained mainstream success after appearing on VH1's Love & Hip Hop: New York and amassing a large social media following.
But the suspected shade didn't end there.
Nicki went on to talk about her status in the game and how, despite lacking certain accolades, was still considered one of the greats ... unlike other unnamed artists.
"I would feel so fucking crazy if I had No. 1s and Grammys and ain't on nobody's top 50 list," she said around the 66:30 mark.
Cardi has multiple No. 1 singles, a No. 1 album, and secured a 2019 Grammy for Best Rap Album (Invasion of Privacy); however, she wasn't listed in Ebro Darden's list of the top 50 rappers of all time. Nicki made the cut at the No. 33 slot, in between Cam'ron and Lil Wayne.
Though Nicki didn't mention any names, fans were convinced she was subbing Cardi. That speculation was fueled shortly after the podcast aired, when Cardi posted a list of the world's top-performing albums, including Invasion of Privacy.
"Only list I give a fuck about," she wrote in a caption.
One year and some change later and my album is still SELLING .Only list I give a fuck about .💁🏽♀️💁🏽♀️💁🏽♀️💁🏽♀️Have s beautiful day everybody 😘😘😘 pic.twitter.com/W4PV6uvPnY— iamcardib (@iamcardib) August 14, 2019

Nicki threw massive shade at Cardi...she is pressed #JoeBuddenPodcast— Yung Lewie Lew (@_Lewie_) August 14, 2019
All that shade Nicki threw at Cardi on the @JoeBuddenPod unnecessarily is why ppl look at this “friendship” with Meg like it’s funny in the light.— Boyz Eleven Men (@eleven8) August 13, 2019
Cardi is minding her business and you’re taking shots. Still. But let Cardi react and it’s an issue.
Nicki Minaj is still shading Cardi B but she’s up here talking about being bullied for 12 years.— Alexandria🔮🦄🧞♀️🧜🏾♀️ (@QuavoPac) August 14, 2019
Why did Nicki come for cardi out of nowhere?— moeee. (@madxhaus) August 14, 2019
I’m legitimately curious... how is Nicki addressing things her being a victim. But Cardi complaining and addressing things, not? That by definition, is you addressing you being victimized. Every time something goes down.. Cardi on live— Jojo 💎 (@LEGENDARYJOJO) August 14, 2019
They spilling tea on the whole Motorsport Nicki and cardi beef. I must’ve missed something cuz I woke up to both our faves subbing each other.— Samila 🌹 (@OhSnapItsSamila) August 14, 2019
Nicki just hadddddddd to come on Joe’s shit and shade Cardi.. let it gooooooo. We’ve seen that you don’t want the smoke. We SEENT it— Oh, it’s Murissa. (@ohhMurissa) August 14, 2019
She doesn’t get anything that everyone else doesn’t get. Cardi complains, yes but she doesn’t play victim. She says what she says and keeps it moving. Miss nicki, she throws stones, subliminal, then plays victim & has amnesia about why ppl attack her. Nah.— Khalil (@kbyrd2) August 14, 2019
