When Reba McEntire sings the national anthem before the Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas on Sunday, some fans could earn (or lose) money.

Multiple sportsbooks feature a prop bet on how long it will take the Oklahoma native and country music icon to sing "The Star Spangled Banner" at Allegiant Stadium.

Here's what we know about the bet's odds, how long it's taken McEntire to sing the song before, and the role the anthem played in launching her career in country music.

Reba McEntire national anthem history points to fast performance

The 2024 Super Bowl is Reba McEntire's first time singing the national anthem at the big game, but she has also done it before other major championships, too.

This included a 78-second version at the 1985 National Finals Rodeo, a 66-second performance at the 1985 World Series in 1985 and an 83-second rendition at the 1997 World Series.

At a regular season Dallas Cowboys game in 1999, she sang for 90.5 seconds, too.

What's the longest, shortest Super Bowl national anthem performance?

Alicia Keys took her time in 2013 when she sang it in 156 seconds (2:36), the longest version at a Super Bowl to date. The quickest occurred way back in 1987 when Neil Diamond finished the song in just 62 seconds.

Singing national anthem at Oklahoma rodeo launched Reba McEntire's country music career

Reba McEntire comes from a family of rodeo champions and growing up, she learned to sing with her siblings from her mom to and from the events.

While a student in college, she got a gig singing at the 1974 National Rodeo Finals after her father made a call to get her the job. In the crowd was music executive Red Steagall, who signed her to Mercury Records the next year.

That performance took McEntire 71 seconds, but has led to career spanning nearly 40 years now.

The other Super Bowl prop bet: A Travis Kelce-Taylor Swift engagement

While there are plenty of bets you can make on Travis Kelce, ESPN reports that no major sportsbooks in the U.S. are offering Taylor Swift-specific bets, but there are some in Canada. That is because most state regulators don't allow for subjective bets.

The bets available of the province of Ontario include times during the game when Swift could be shown on the broadcast and if her name is mentioned by whoever the Super Bowl MVP is. There's also a live bet on whether Kelce proposes to Swift on the field after game.

As of this writing, the odds for that bet are:

  • Yes: +1060

  • No: -3000

Other songs being sung before kickoff include "America the Beautiful," which will performed by Post Malone. The song has been sung consistently at the game since 2009. The song was sung in 1977 in place of the anthem by Vickie Carr, which has been performed at every other Super Bowl.

"Lift Every Voice and Sing," performed by Andra Day. The song was first sung at the Super Bowl in 2021 by Alicia Keys.
