Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” — the film version of the wildly successful concert tour — was released a day early due to unprecedented ticket demand from fans.

Even though the movie suddenly opened on Thursday, Oct. 12, it should come as no surprise that fans in Phoenix showed up and showed out at theaters across the Valley on the original release day, Friday, Oct. 13.

Harkins Theatres Camelview at Fashion Square 14 in Scottsdale was packed with Taylor Swift fans of all ages coming and going as showtimes continued throughout the day Friday.

Some donned full sparkly outfits from head to toe in true “Lover” fashion while others opted for comfort, wearing Eras Tour merchandise. Here’s all the outfits and excitement we saw at “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” on opening weekend.

Fans opted for comfort at the “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” film

Comfort is key when going to the movies, so some opted tapped into their Eras Tour spirit by donning merch they bought at the concert.

Estephanie Matancillas and Dulce Rivera from Phoenix have been Taylor Swift fans since middle school. They came to watch “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” to relive the excitement from Night 1 of Swift’s tour launch at State Farm Stadium in Glendale. Matancillas wore her black Eras Tour T-shirt with Swift on the front. Rivera forgot hers but said that’s what she would’ve worn. The two bought themed cups and popcorn buckets to get in the spirit.

The friends said they were most excited to see the small details they might’ve missed during the concert.

“It almost felt like I blacked out when I was in there because it was just so exciting,” Rivera said. “And we’re just singing and screaming, so yeah, excited to see the details of everything.”

Others brought out their inner “1989” and “Fearless" looks

Shayla Stoinski from Scottsdale and her friend Grant Leak from Paradise Valley were looking forward to seeing everything the Eras Tour movie has to offer.

Stoinski had been a fan since the “Reputation” album and Leak for the past year or so. Leak went to SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles during Night 1 of that six-night tour stop and Stoinski plans to go during Swift’s second U.S. leg in Indiana in 2024.

They based their outfits today off the album “1989” and represented the song “Welcome to New York.” Stoinski had on a Statue of Liberty headband and Leak was wearing an I Heart New York T-shirt. The two also had on tons of friendship bracelets and drew Swift’s lucky number 13 onto their hands.

Sara Skornik from Phoenix has been a Swift fan for close to 13 years. Her first concert ever was during Swift’s The Red Tour in Chicago in 2013. She also went to The 1989 World Tour and most recently attended Night 1 of The Eras Tour in Glendale.

To Skornik the whole experience of The Eras Tour was magical, especially being there on the first night when no one had seen it yet. Her favorite part was seeing the different transitions and Swift working her way through the different albums.

She came to see “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” with her cousin who had not been to the concerts. Skornik is excited to relive it all and catch hidden Easter eggs she hadn’t noticed before.

Her outfit inspiration for the movie primarily came from the “Fearless” album but also was influenced by other eras. She had on friendship bracelets, cowgirl boots and a light-colored dress.

“I think it's a mishmash, but I think that's a testament to all her albums because you can be different eras at once and that's not a bad thing,” Skornik said.

This lucky fan wore the 1st '22' hat Taylor gave her on The Eras Tour

Eva Fose has been a Taylor Swift fan for as long as she can remember. She had a great experience at the Eras Tour and wanted to relieve it.

Fose was actually gifted a hat from Swift herself during the Eras Tour opening night in Glendale.

During the concert a member of Swift’s team and a security guard approached Fose and her father. Fose was afraid something was wrong. Then she was brought close to the stage and Swift gave her the hat she wore during the song “22.” Fose shouted, “I love you Taylor” during the interaction. Taylor placing the "22" hat on a lucky fan's head has since become an iconic moment of the Eras Tour.

Fose wore her "22" hat to the movie theater along with shimmery blue and green pants. Tapping into her “Midnights” era, Fose said she was excited to see the movie and hoped to see herself in it.

Friendship bracelets were essential to the Eras Tour movie experience

Almost every fan had on friendship bracelets reminiscent of the Eras Tour, where Swift told fans to exchange them with one another. She encouraged this for the movie experience as well, stating in an Instagram post, “Eras attire, friendship bracelets, singing and dancing encouraged.”

The exchanging of friendship bracelets is also a play on Swift’s song “You’re on Your Own, Kid” from the “Midnights” album. That song contains the lyric “So, make the friendship bracelets, take the moment and taste it.”

Happiness and smiles filled the theater as fans introduced themselves to each other, chatted while picking bracelets and seemed excited to watch “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour" whether they had been to a concert or were experiencing it like it was "The Very First Night."
