A Sacramento Kings fan died while attending the team's game against the New Orleans Pelicans at Golden 1 Center on Monday, a representative for the organization said.

In a statement issued to the Sacramento Bee, the Kings confirmed that a guest at the arena "had a medical emergency" during the first quarter of the game.

"EMS immediately responded and administered CPR. Tragically, these efforts were unsuccessful and the guest passed away," the statement said.

The Kings' statement also offered the organization's "deepest condolences" to the deceased's "family and loved ones" following the tragedy.

The Sacramento Fire Department told Fox 40, “Golden 1 Center staff was notified that someone was unresponsive. When the engine got there they found a 30’s aged male.”

According to the local Sacramento outlet, CPR was administered for approximately 20 minutes before he was pronounced dead at the scene by medical services.

No additional details have been made public as of Tuesday morning.

The incident did not cause a delay in the game, and Kings players said they only learned about the incident after the game ended.
