Get the Party Started

Today, singer Pink is a worldwide sensation.

Her career took off with the release of her second album Missundaztood. The first single released from the album was Get the Party Started, which would turn into the pop/dance anthem of 2001.

Perry helped write the song for Pink, which turned into a big hit. It topped the US Billboard charts and it earned Pink a slew of awards along with a Grammy nomination.

The song did help launch Pink's success, however, the song almost wasn't performed by her. Perry originally pitched the song to Madonna. Luckily for Pink, the Material Girl turned it down.

Beautiful

Linda has worked with Christina Aguilera multiple times throughout the pop star's career.

Their first collaboration came in 2002 for Christina's album Stripped. Perry had wrote the song a few years prior and originally was going to give it to Pink. However, after hearing Aguilera sing Beautiful, Perry decided to let Christina record it.

With Christina's vocals, Beautiful became an inspirational song to people who were struggling with self-esteem.

Beautiful earned praise from music critics and topped the music charts. The song also earned Linda a Grammy nomination for Song of the Year in 2004.

What You Waiting For?

In 2004, when Gwen Stefani was recording her solo album, she sought Perry's help with songwriting.

Perry and Stefani's songwriting sessions got off to a rocky start due to Gwen's writer's block and self-consciousness at branching out on her own.

Perry helped Stefani through her writer's block and insecurities. They even used the experience as the inspiration behind the song What You Waiting For.

The song was the first single released from Gwen's album Love. Angel. Music. Baby.

What You Waiting For received positive feedback from fans and critics. It also earned Gwen and Linda Grammy nominations.

What's Up?

While Linda is an accomplished songwriter and has written songs for many famous artists, she's also had a few hits of her own.

In 1989, she formed the band 4 Non Blondes. In 1993, the group had their first and only hit song with What's Up?

Linda wrote and sung vocals for the track. The song receives mainly positive feedback and was a hit with fans.

What's Up would be the bands only hit, and shortly after the song's release, Linda left the band to focus on her solo career.
