Created by Carl Weber, The Family Business (alternatively known as Carl Weber’s The Family Business) is a crime-drama show based on Weber’s namesake book series. The plot revolves around the Duncans, a Jamaican-Queens-based affluent family that runs a successful exotic car dealership. However, not many people know that they are also prominent figures in the criminal underbelly of New York.
Originally, the series went into development as a film before becoming an eight-episode limited series that aired on BET between November 13, 2018, and January 29, 2019. The subsequent seasons have since streamed on BET Plus, with season 4 becoming available on the platform between September 1, 2022, and October 27, 2022. Is there a The Family Business Season 5 release date?
The Family Business Season 5 does not have an official release date, but the series creator has revealed that it will come out in summer 2024.
As of early January 2024, The Family Business hasn’t officially renewed yet. However, in October 2023, series creator Carl Weber announced on his Facebook page that they were 40% finished with the new season and added that the Hollywood strikes had an impact on the production. In December of that year, Weber also took to the same social media platform to state that the fifth season was coming out in summer 2024, before reiterating that this was due to the strikes. BET often announces their renewals a few months before the release of the respective shows. The same thing is likely to happen with The Family Business as well.
