With The Super Mario Bros Movie topping the box office and HBO's The Last of Us earning rave reviews, it's been a good year for video game adaptations. Next on the list is Fallout, the iconic franchise of post-apocalyptic action role-playing games. Below, you can see the first images from Prime Video's upcoming TV adaptation of Fallout, which was executive produced by Westworld veterans Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, with Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner serving as co-showrunners. Nolan directed the first three episodes.

The many iterations of Fallout games take place in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by nuclear disaster and climate devastation. Player characters typically emerge from fallout shelters known as Vaults to explore the world for themselves, but since individual character creation is such a big part of the games, the Fallout adaptation has to invent original characters to represent familiar archetypes. But don't worry — there's plenty of Power Armor to go around.

Fallout stars Ella Purnell (Yellowjackets) as Lucy, an optimistic Vault Dweller with an all-American can-do spirit, whose idealistic nature is tested when people harm her loved ones. Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks) plays Hank, the Overseer of Vault 33 and Lucy’s father, who is eager to change the world for the better. Aaron Moten plays Maximus, a young soldier hiding his tragic past as he serves in a militaristic faction called Brotherhood of Steel. He believes in the nobility of the Brotherhood's mission to bring law and order to the Wasteland and will do anything to further their goals. Walton Goggins (The Righteous Gemstones, Justified) stars as the Ghoul, a pragmatic and ruthless survivor who trawls the Wasteland as a bounty hunter. Irradiated Ghouls are one of the most recognizable elements of the Fallout franchise, and here, Goggins combines their iconic look with a Westworld-esque cowboy outfit.

Other Fallout cast members include Moisés Arias (The King of Staten Island), Sarita Choudhury (Homeland), Michael Emerson (Person of Interest), Zach Cherry (Severance), and more.

Fallout is set to premiere April 12, 2024 on Prime Video. Check out more images below.
