'Fall And Rise: The Story Of 9/11' Is Being Turned Into A TV Show By ABC

The limited series will air in 2021 to honor the 20th anniversary of the tragedy.

A New Limited Series

ABC has acquired the rights to Fall and Rise: The Story of 9/11, the definitive book about the September 11 terrorist attacks and the aftermath.

The book was written by Mitchell Zuckoff, the award-winning investigative journalist and Pulitzer prize nominee behind the Boston Globe Spotlight Team who also lead coverage of 9/11 in the Globe's newsroom.

The Source Material

The limited series was announced at the TCAs on Monday, and executive producer Erwin Stoff explained why telling this story was so important to everyone on the project.

"When I first read Mitchell’s manuscript, I knew that it would be an honor to bring this remarkable work to television. This is the story of how America came together on that day, first in horror, then in grief, and finally in determination and hope. We at 3 Arts couldn’t be more delighted to be working with our Lionsgate partners and the amazing team at ABC in bringing Fall and Rise to the screen."

Honoring The 20th Anniversary

The limited series is expected to air in 2021 for the 20th anniversary of the attack, and Zuckoff explained that ABC was the right network for this project.

"I can’t imagine a more perfect home for this project. On 9/11, millions of people learned about the attacks by turning to ABC. I have complete faith that the network will enable us to bring new and enhanced life to the stories I was privileged to tell in Fall and Rise."
