Netflix on Tuesday released a trailer for Mike Flanagan’s The Fall of the House of Usher, an eight-episode limited series based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe. The drama follows the Usher family, headed by siblings Roderick and Madeline Usher, whose Fortunato Pharmaceuticals is a wildly successful drug company. But, per the official logline, “past secrets come to light when the heirs to the Usher dynasty start dying at the hands of a mysterious woman from their youth.”
The sprawling cast includes Bruce Greenwood (The Resident), Mary McDonnell (Battlestar Galactica), Mark Hamill (Star Wars), Carl Lumbly (Alias), Malcolm Goodwin (iZombie), Paola Nuñez (The Purge), Daniel Jun (The Expanse) and Kyleigh Curran (Doctor Sleep) as well as several actors who appeared in The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass and/or The Midnight Club: Carla Gugino, Aya Furukawa, Ruth Codd, Sauriyan Sapkota, Rahul Kohli, Henry Thomas, T’Nia Miller, Samantha Sloyan, Kate Siegel, Zach Gilford, Katie Parker, Michael Trucco, Crystal Balint, Matt Biedel, Igby Rigney, Robert Longstreet and Annabeth Gish.
Flanagan wrote all of the series’ scripts; he and frequent collaborator Michael Fimognari each directed four episodes. All eight installments will begin streaming on Netflix on Thursday, Oct. 12.
