Universal Pictures released the first trailer for The Fall Guy, a new film directed by Deadpool 2 and Bullet Train’s David Leitch. The footage sees Gosling play a stuntman who gets wrapped up in a conspiracy involving his ex, played by Blunt, and a missing movie star.
What is The Fall Guy about?
“He’s a stuntman, and like everyone in the stunt community, he gets blown up, shot, crashed, thrown through windows and dropped from the highest of heights, all for our entertainment,” the official synopsis reads. “And now, fresh off an almost career-ending accident, this working-class hero has to track down a missing movie star, solve a conspiracy and try to win back the love of his life while still doing his day job. What could possibly go right?”
The Fall Guy is inspired by the 1980s television series of the same name. The script comes from Drew Pearce, who previously wrote and directed 2018’s Hotel Artemis. Pearce also co-wrote the screenplays for 2013’s Iron Man 3 and 2019’s Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, while he additionally has a story credit for 2015’s Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation.
Starring in The Fall Guy with Gosling and Blunt are Winston Duke (Us, Black Panther), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass, Kraven the Hunter), Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso, Hocus Pocus 2), and Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel).
Leitch, who was a real-life stunt performer and coordinator prior to becoming a director, serves as a producer on the film with Gosling, Kelly McCormick, and Guymon Casey. Pearce, Geoff Shaevitz, and Glen A. Larson serve as executive producers.
The Fall Guy releases in United States theaters on March 1, 2024, from Universal Pictures.
