Delays in production for Marvel Studios’ upcoming Disney+ original series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier caused first by an earthquake in Puerto Rico and then the coronavirus will keep the Marvel spinoff series from making its previously set August premiere date.

The series was not on Disney+’s list of next month premieres released Friday. No word yet on a fresh date.

The series stars the Marvel films’ Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon and Sebastian Stan as as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier. The mismatched pair are military vets and former partners of Captain America (who is missing in action after the events of the record-breaking Avengers: Endgame) who team for a global adventure that will test their survival skills — as well as their patience.

Daniel Brühl, Emily VanCamp, Wyatt Russell, Desmond Chiam, Miki Ishikawa, Noah Mills and Carl Lumbly also star. Kari Skogland is directing the series, with Malcolm Spellman is the head writer.

Falcon and the Winter Soldier first saw its two-week production run halted in January in Puerto Rico by a series of earthquakes that included a 6.4 magnitude earthquake along its southern coast, reportedly the island’s biggest in a century.

Production eventually moved to Atlanta for a couple of months before shifting to the Czech Republic, where it had to shut down a planned weeklong shoot in Prague on March 10 as coronavirus began to take hold in Europe.

Another Marvel/Disney+ original series, WandaVision, remains on track for a 2020 premiere date. That series stars Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen reprising their roles as Vision and Wanda Maximoff (aka Scarlet Witch), respectively. Kat Dennings, Randall Park and Kathryn Hahn also star.

Disney+’s high-profile The Mandalorian is also expected to be released in October as it finished shooting on Season 2 just before the shutdown.
