Faizon Love says he has no hard feelings toward Jay-Z.

The actor and comedian made headlines this month after he was seemingly referenced in Pusha-T and Hov’s new track, “Neck & Wrist.” In the final verse, Jay reaffirms his status in the game and uses homophones to address comments made by Love, who accused Jay of lying about his past drug-dealing days.

“The phase I’m on, love, I wouldn’t believe it either,” he raps on the Pharrell-produced cut. “I’d be like, ‘Jay-Z’s a cheater,’/I wouldn’t listen to reason either.”

Faizon was asked about the reference during a recent interview on VladTV, admitting the lyrics initially went over his head.

“I didn’t get it at first, ’cause it’s some rap thing, and it’s not clear,” he said, before mocking everyone who claimed Jay was dissing him. “First of all I’m not a rapper. I have no bars, at all … I listened to it. He didn’t really diss me.”

The Friday star then compared the situation to a game of tennis, in which he and Hov were simply rallying.

“Back at you, Love. We all love. It’s all love now, you know what I’m saying?” he said, before adding, “I think I ruffled some feathers.”

Jay’s lyrics were a response to Faizon’s 2020 sit-down with VladTV, when he highlighted the dangers of rappers glorifying a life of crime. He specifically called out the Roc Nation boss for not only glamorizing drug-dealing, but also lying about it.

“When Jay-Z creates this whole ‘I’m a drug dealer, I’m a drug lord’ [persona], these kids say, ‘We gotta do it, too, to be like Jay-Z,’ he said during the interview. “Not knowing that this is all made up shit.”

Love double down on his claims in his latest VladTV appearance. You can hear his full comments above.
