There was more than one fairy tale ending to "The Nutcracker" ballet this holiday week.

Shelly and Ray Price from Veneta exchanged wedding vows in front of 25 friends and family and then walked two blocks to the Hult Center for the Performing Arts to watch the ballet together in celebration.

“We always come to The Nutcracker,” said the bride. “My daughter is a ballerina and has danced with some of the dancers performing tonight.”

After the couple joined in matrimony at the 5th Street Alley, the wedding party enjoyed dinner together at the Gordon Hotel and then made their way to the Hult Center just in time for the 7:30 p.m. show.

Inside Silva Concert Hall, the group met Eugene Ballet Company marketing and design coordinator Katie Patrick, who presented the couple with a wedding gift and ushered them to their seats. Three rows were decorated with ballet dancer-shaped Christmas ornaments and blue and white ribbons.

Jennifer Martin, Eugene Ballet's associate artistic director, introduced the couple to the audience from the stage before the curtain rose for the performance.

“It was all about being whimsical,” said the groom, Ray Price. “A lot of our relationship is about fun and it is wonderful to celebrate the holidays together.”
