Get ready for summer at Camp Half-Blood — a new teaser for Percy Jackson and the Olympians has arrived.

The teaser (below)opens the same way the first book, The Lightning Thief, begins: we're introduced to Percy Jackson (Walker Scobell) on a school field trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan. After touching on Percy's everyday struggles — bullies, poor grades, and a creative visual representation of dyslexia — the titular demigod is attacked by a fury (Megan Mullally).

"The stories that I have told you about Greek gods and half-bloods — they are real," Percy's mom explains.

Flashes from Percy's quest to retrieve the stolen Master Bolt are seen, with glimpses of what appear to be Waterland, the River Styx, and the Underworld itself. There are also brief images of characters like Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries), Zeus (Lance Reddick), and Ares (Adam Copeland).

The teaser ends with Percy's rainy confrontation with a minotaur. His mother implores him, "You're gonna need to be brave now" before he activates his sword and charges into battle.

Disney 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians'

The series is based on Rick Riordan's wildly popular Percy Jackson and the Olympians book series, which debuted in 2005 with The Lightning Thief. Though the series had previously been adapted into two movies starring Logan Lerman, Riordan told EW that the forthcoming streaming series is the faithful adaptation for which fans have long clamored.

"We have been involved in the series since its inception, since the very, very earliest conversations about what a new Percy adaptation might look like, how it would be sketched out, whether it would be episodic," Riordan told EW. "So, I feel comfortable telling fans of the books who have been waiting — in some cases, decades — for this kind of faithful adaptation, that this is the one you've been waiting for. We are involved and I think you're gonna love it."

The first two episodes of the series, which premiere on Disney+ on Dec. 20, were written by series author Rick Riordan and Jon Steinberg, and directed by James Bobin. The remaining six episodes will release weekly after the two-episode premiere.
