Johnny Galecki is about to be a dad and admits he would 'kind of prefer a girl'

"Big Bang Theory" star Johnny Galecki hopes he and girlfriend Alaina Meyer are having a girl, he revealed on "The Talk" Thursday.

During Galecki's appearance on the CBS daytime program, co-host Sharon Osbourne asked about his fingernails being painted pink.

"I get a little bored looking exactly the same way for 9-and-a-half months every year playing Leonard (on "The Big Bang Theory)," he said. "So, we wrapped, and I threw some blue in my hair. Then, I got superstitious that I was, like, manifesting a boy, when I kind of prefer a girl – don’t play this tape for my child years from now. So, I painted my nails pink to try to even out the energy there.”

Galecki's baby news made Sara Gilbert "burst into tears," she revealed to "The Talk" audience. The two played onscreen loves on "Roseanne" and Gilbert has acted on "Big Bang."

"So, tears are coming down my face, and Stephanie, who used to do (former "Talk" co-host Aisha Tyler's) make-up here, sees me, and she walks up, and she's like, ‘I know, isn’t it so sad the show's ending?' ”

“And I couldn’t say anything... and I was like, ‘Oh yes, yes,' ” said Gilbert, describing the day she found out about Galecki's happy news.

"It's my goal at any party to make Sara cry," Galecki joked.

As for Galecki and Meyer's relationship, the duo began popping up on each other's social media feeds in September and made their relationship red-carpet official at the People's Choice Awards in November.

Galecki shared the baby news on his Instagram account May 3.

"We are absolutely over the moon to announce that we will soon be welcoming a little one into this crazy and wonderful world," the post's caption read.

"We ask that you please respect our privacy during this celebratory time for us and our families. There truly is love out there for all. We hope ours is the ember of yours, as we feel yours is the ember of ours.”
