Expectant Parents Francesca Farago and Jesse Sullivan Explain Why They Want Their 'Wedding After Babies' (Exclusive)

Sullivan tells PEOPLE that they "probably do a courthouse wedding first" and wait to have an "actual wedding" after settling into parenthood

Francesca Farago and Jesse Sullivan are okay with putting their wedding plans on hold while they settle into parenthood.

The expectant parents — who announced their engagement in May 2023 — confirmed to PEOPLE on Monday's iHeartRadio Music Awards red carpet that they will wait until "after babies" to tie the knot.

"We're going to do wedding after babies because we were thinking how cute would it be to have two little newborns at the wedding or like two little toddlers," Farago, 29, says. "That would be so cute to like include them."

Sullivan, 33, predicts they will "probably do a courthouse wedding first while she's pregnant and then do an actual wedding a little later."

Farago tells PEOPLE that a "really hard" wedding planning experience also played a role in their decision.

"We were wedding planning, and then one day, wedding planning was really hard, and we were just kind of discouraged," the reality TV star says. "And then we looked at each other, and we were like, 'Should we just do babies first?' And then we just decided there and then, and we just went right into IVF."

The couple announced that they are expecting their first baby together in a joint Instagram post on Sunday.

"We wanted to take this special day to celebrate this amazing milestone with all of you. We've brought you with us through the loss, so we couldn't wait to bring you along for the win. I am still pretty newly pregnant, and there's so much more to come, but we are so excited to be growing our family with Arlo as the coolest older sibling! AHH IM PREGNANT!😭💫" Farago captioned the post.

It's no surprise that the couple want to focus on their growing family first, as Farago tells PEOPLE that seeing her positive pregnancy test left her in "shock."

"We were not expecting that. We thought it was going to be negative for sure, and then when we saw positive that early, we got a really early positive, we were like 'No,'" she says.

While fans will have to wait a little longer to see the couple get married, Farago previously told PEOPLE that they are looking to have a "huge" ceremony "somewhere in Italy" or on Catalina Island, California.
